Small businesses are targeted by hackers because they often do not have the resources to stay abreast of new schemes, or to protect against them with the latest technology or security solutions. Small businesses have historically struggled with data security, so any help is always welcome.

Recognizing that small businesses struggle with data security, the Federal Trade Commission, in conjunction with the Department of Homeland Security, NIST, and the Small Business Administration last week announced a national campaign designed to assist small businesses with cybersecurity.

The campaign materials offer fact sheets, videos and quizzes on numerous topics, some of which include: basics of cybersecurity, ransomware, phishing, business email imposters, vendor security and cyber insurance.

Small businesses need all the help they can get, so taking a look at this free of charge material may be helpful. It is basic, easy to understand and timely. The educational materials can be accessed here.
