Proper Charting For Advanced Directives

This article covers the importance of Advanced Directives. This is one of the single most important decisions that one can make during their life as it effects the way you want to be taken care of if you or a loved are faced with a catastrophic health occurrence. Subjects that are covered are: Understanding the Advanced Directive,The Living Will V. Advanced Directive and the durable power of attorney. Also covered is the proper documentation for nurses as this can be of great significance e.g. DNR orders for resuscitation and the level of "heroic" actions to take on yourself or that of a loved one, hence the importance of what to document and what NOT to document are just as important. Having this AD is critically important at any age as it states the patients wishes before a crisis and stops needless legal involvement with doctors and hospitals as to your wishes or that of loved ones.
