Release Of The ASEAN IP Portal

Explore:  ASEAN Funds Portal

The ASEAN Member States1 passed a significant milestone last week with the release of one of the more tangible outputs of the ASEAN Intellectual Property Rights Action Plan 2011-2015, in the form of the ASEAN IP Portal.

The portal is a deliverable under Strategic Goal 3 of the Plan, and was developed by lead countries Thailand and Singapore to enable ASEAN member states to easily obtain IP information in the ASEAN region.  The Action Plan refers to a commitment to maintain the Portal, at least to 2015.

The portal contains a number of useful features including:

  • a Resources page containing a compilation of documents describing National patent prosecution procedures, legislation and case law;
  • a Statistics page containing various comparative information sets on patent registration, enforcement and the like;
  • Links to all 10 patent offices of the ASEAN member states; and
  • Notices and procedures on ASPEC, the ASEAN Patent Examination Co-operation work sharing initiative for patent search and examination among ASEAN member states.

The portal may be accessed here
