TotalEnergies, Sempra to co-develop U.S. wind projects

TotalEnergies and Sempra have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to co-develop several onshore and offshore renewable projects. The MoU outlines Sempra's potential acquisition of 30% of TotalEnergies' stake in an offshore wind project off the coast of California that will be auctioned in the near future. It also outlines TotalEnergies' potential acquisition of 30% of Sempra's stake in certain onshore renewable projects under development along the Mexico-U.S. border.
Nevada toad at site of geothermal plant declared endangered

In a rare emergency move, the U.S government temporarily declared a northern Nevada toad endangered on Monday, saying a geothermal power plant in the works could result in its extinction. The Fish and Wildlife Service announced it is formally proposing a rule to list the Dixie Valley toad as an endangered species subject to 60 days of public comment under the Endangered Species Act's normal rulemaking process.
Large solar projects on the rise in Oregon

The director of Oregon’s energy department says more utility-scale solar energy projects could be on the way after the recent approval of a 400 MW facility in Christmas Valley. The Energy Facility Siting Council approved the state’s first utility-scale solar project in Boardman in 2018. It has now approved a total of seven, with six more currently under review.
Trident Winds submits first floating offshore wind lease proposal in Washington

Floating wind developer Trident has handed in an 'unsolicited lease request' (ULR) to build the 2 GW Olympic project off the Washington coast. The submission of the ULR for Olympic to the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management kicks off an initial review to confirm Trident meets the federal agency's legal, technical, and financial qualifications to hold a lease on the U.S. Outer Continental Shelf for commercial offshore energy development.
