Responsibilities of an Executor in North Carolina

There are statutory responsibilities set out by the State of North Carolina that are required to be adhered to if a person has been appointed an Executor or an Administrator of an Estate in North Carolina. Many individuals attempt to navigate the Probate Court without the guidance of an attorney. Some are able to navigate it well. However, there are more that are unable to perform their duties properly because of their unfamiliarity with the fact that there are rules or they know there are rules, but they do not know the legalities that are associated with their responsibilities.

This article provides a brief over view of the Executor's duties. By no means is it an exhaustive list and legal counsel should always be sought first.
