Russia and Belarus sanctions update - August 2022

Over the past few weeks, the US Department of Treasury Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) took various actions in response to Russia’s continued invasion in Ukraine:

..updated the Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons (SDN) List by adding individuals considered Kremlin-connected elites, including Alina Maratovna Kabaeva, Vladimir Putin’s long rumored romantic partner, as well as other entities and vessels, and deleted and revised other SDN entries;

..issued Russia-related General Licenses (GLs) (GL 40B, GL 43A, GL 47A, GL 48A, GL 49); and

..published FAQs 1073, 1074, and 1075, clarifying that certain entities have not been designated on the (SDN) List as a result of OFAC designating Andrey Igorevich Melnichenko, Andrey Grigoryevich Guryev, Andrey Andreevich Guryev, and Alexander Anatolevich Ponomarenko.
