Obligee satisfaction with contract surety bonds was the topic of an hour-long presentation at the Mid-Winter Program sponsored by the ABA’s Tort Trial & Insurance Section, Fidelity and Surety Law Committee, in New York City on January 24-25, 2013. Ms. Lynn Schubert, President of the Surety & Fidelity Association of America, spoke on these issues with the help of pre-recorded video appearances by several performane bond obligees who offered their candid perspectives about the performance bond claims handling and resolution process. The presentation left an impression, and these are my observations.
