While 2022 was an eventful year in the state Attorney General space, the first few weeks of 2023 suggest that state Attorney General issues will once again be in the headlines.

First and most obvious, we had a much-ballyhooed midterm election. While all eyes were on the Senate and House races, there were also important developments at the state level, with 18 new state Attorneys General being sworn in.

Over the past year, there were also a number of key cases, highlighted in this issue, that set a new legal standard or provided much-needed legal clarification. Sometimes it helps to get some context on these developments, so I hope you'll watch my very informal chat with one of the true icons in the state Attorney General space, former Maine Attorney General Jim Tierney.
