Statute of Repose Agreed to by House and Senate

The Senate unanimously concurred in the House Committee Substitute for Senate Bill 574 after a Senate committee briefly reviewed the new bill today. You'll remember that the House changed the bill from one making technical changes regarding bail bonds to one addressing a recent Supreme Court decision on groundwater contamination through a "delete and replace all the bill contents" amendment called a proposed committee substitute.

During the Senate floor debate we learned that the impacted statute was designed with products in mind and not environmental contamination making the soon-to-be law more of a clarification than a brand new idea.

We expect to see ratification tomorrow.
