Below is the Federal Policy team’s weekly preview, published each Monday that Congress is in session.

HEADLINES

• The House intends to try again on immigration legislation, which it punted last week. Even amid the increased scrutiny over migrant families separated at the U.S. southern border, it’s unclear whether the House can muster the votes to pass the immigration legislation.

• Primary elections will take place in Colorado, Maryland, New York, Oklahoma, Utah; runoffs will occur in Mississippi and South Carolina.

• President Donald Trump will rally behind South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster, an early supporter.

HOUSE

• The House plans to vote Monday through Thursday. The legislative agenda includes noncontroversial legislation from the Financial Services Committee and the Natural Resources Committee, and the annual Defense Department policy bill; lawmakers also intend to vote on immigration bills.
• Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson on Wednesday is scheduled to testify before the Financial Services Committee.
• The Oversight Committee on Wednesday will review the Trump administration’s plan to reorganize the government.

SENATE

• The Senate plans to be in session throughout the week and today will finish work on three spending bills before turning to the farm bill.
• Healthcare costs remain in the spotlight: Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar on Tuesday will testify before the Senate Finance Committee regarding prescription drug affordability; on Wednesday, the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee will hear testimony regarding ways to reduce healthcare costs.

WHITE HOUSE

• Jordan’s King Abdullah II and Queen Rania visit the White House Monday.
• Trump will hold campaign events for South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster and for North Dakota Rep. Kevin Cramer in his race against Sen. Heidi Heitkamp, and a fundraiser in Milwaukee.
• On Friday, he plans to celebrate the six-month anniversary of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
