Below is this week’s congressional update by BakerHostetler’s Federal Policy team. We’ll continue to post in weeks when both chambers of Congress are in session.
HEADLINES
- President Joe Biden will travel to New England for campaign events, and will host President William Ruto of Kenya at the White House.
- Secretary of State Antony Blinken will appear at four separate hearings across both chambers.
- The Senate will again vote on bipartisan border security legislation that previously failed, before both chambers depart for Memorial Day recess.
HOUSE
- The House will hold floor votes tomorrow through Thursday, including on legislation to regulate digital financial assets.
- Blinken is scheduled to testify Wednesday morning at the Appropriations Subcommittee that funds his department, followed by an appearance at the Foreign Affairs Committee that afternoon.
- Also Wednesday, the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Communications and Technology will discuss the bipartisan committee leaders’ proposal to sunset Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act.
