TVM Update: Coloplast in talks to Settle for $16 Million


Transvaginal mesh maker Coloplast A/S (In Re: Coloplast Corp Pelvic Support System Products Liability Litigation, 12-md-2387, U.S. District Court, Southern District of West Virginia) is said to be in talks to settle a basket of about 400 lawsuits for an average of $40,000 each.

An official statement has not been made as of yet, however defendant’s counsel, Lana Varney, stated to Judge Goodwin in a January 9th hearing that the device-maker had “reached a resolution with one major inventory of cases”. Varney goes on to state that the company has made offers to five other firms holding large inventories of cases and that the company was optimistic.

The current list of cases under the MDL stands at 1368, with 54 additional that have been filed and closed.
