The United States Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”) has published three documents addressing federal grant programs that it believes may be of interest to owners and operators of underground storage tank (“UST”) systems.

The documents include:

• Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Federal Grant Programs

The document notes that the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act provides grant programs that may be of interest to UST owners and operators interested in installing electric vehicle charging capabilities either as an addition to, or in lieu of, their petroleum fueling operations.

• Federal Grant Programs of Interest to Diesel Underground Storage Tank Owners and Operators

The previously referenced two Congressional enactments provide federal funding for hydrogen or natural gas fueling capabilities which, again, may be of interest to UST owners and operators as an addition to, or in lieu of, their petroleum fueling operations.

• United States Department of Agriculture’s Higher Blends Infrastructure Investment Program: Information for Underground Storage Tank System Owners and Operators

The previously referenced two Congressional enactments provide federal grants related to higher blends of ethanol and biodiesel for those owners and operators of UST systems that may be interested in upgrading and replacing their current UST infrastructure.
