The U.S. Department of State (DOS) released its
October 2020 Visa Bulletin reflecting significant advancement of priority dates in certain immigrant visa categories. Following the release of the bulletin, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)
announced it will honor the bulletin’s Dates for Filing Chart for employment-based adjustment applications filed this October.
The Dates for Filing Chart includes significant advancement of priority dates for various employment-based categories for Indian and Chinese nationals. In October, priority dates on or before the following cutoff dates will be honored by the USCIS:
- EB-1, EB-2, and EB-3 current for all countries except China and India
- For Indian nationals
- EB-1 – September 1, 2020
- EB-2 – May 15, 2011
- EB-3 – January 1, 2015
- For Chinese nationals
- EB-1 – September 1, 2020
- EB-2 – October 1, 2016
- EB-3 – June 1, 2018
In the bulletin, the DOS projects rapid movement forward for all employment-based categories for Chinese and Indian nationals and that all employment-based categories will remain current for all other countries. Visa bulletins are released by the DOS on a monthly basis summarizing the availability of immigrant visas by application type.
