On February 23, 2022, Assistant Attorney General Matthew Olsen announced that the DOJ’s China Initiative was officially ending. He also announced DOJ’s new national security strategy - Strategy for Countering Nation-State threats which not only includes China but Russia as well. DOJ’s emphasis on a broader enforcement program will inevitably impact how both domestic and international companies conduct business. The panelists in the webinar will share their expertise regarding DOJ’s strategic shift from the China Initiative to Nation-State Threats and will provide solutions to navigate the dramatic change in DOJ enforcement landscape. The webinar will provide:
- The China Initiative: Brief historical/contextual overview of US government enforcement.
- Nation-State Threats: The transition to the new strategy, what does DOJ’s broader strategy mean for companies with business affiliations with China and Russia (especially in light of the war in Ukraine and global economic sanctions on Russia). What can companies expect?
- Way Forward: What can companies do to prepare for the shift in the US government’s enforcement strategy. What are the tools and/or solutions that are available for companies to exercise and to consider to prevent and/or to minimize their risks from US government enforcement?
