More than 50% of Americans lack an estate plan, which can lead to tricky situations down the road when a loved one gets sick or passes away. A living will, or advanced directive, in particular, can be a critical document in the face of a medical emergency and as part of advanced care planning. In this webinar, partner Whitney Patience O’Reilly will explain the nuts and bolts of living wills, their importance to an estate plan, and how they fit in with advanced care planning. She will also examine seminal cases regarding living wills and the laws that shape them, like the Patient Self-Determination Act that was updated in 2020, and how these cases and laws shape what your estate plan and advanced care plan can and should look like.
