What is the Market for Lateral Law Firm Partners Going to Look Like in 2011?

After a relatively anemic lateral market for lateral law firm partners in 2010, what can we expect potential lateral partners and law firms to see in 2011?

We believe that there are ample opportunities for potential lateral partners and law firms of every size. But, these new opportunities are consistent with the dramatic changes we have seen revolutionize the profession and, most particularly, the very business model under which the large law firm operated during the past half-century. Much of the coming months will see increased opportunities for law firms, particularly mid-sized, regional law firms boutique national and local law firms and a fair number of partners moving not only for better opportunities but also because of de-equitatization and layoffs by partners at law firms. The contours of the landscape are such that there are indeed ample opportunities for lateral partners and for law firms seeking to take advantage of the shifting landscape.

There are ample opportunities that will doubtless be exploited by law firms and artners at every level.
