Peggy Fogelman, from Graham, NC found herself making an unscheduled visit to a Burlington home on January 9. The 82-year-old woman had been driving her car on West Chapel Hill Rd when she lost control of the vehicle. The car hit an embankment after it ran off the road and ultimately landed on the porch of an unfortunate homeowner in the area. Ms. Fogelman was taken to Alamance Regional Medical Center for treatment of her injuries, which were not considered life threatening.

Whenever you are involved in a car accident, it is important to keep your wits about you and remember some basic concepts:

  • It is a crime to leave the scene of an accident without reporting it to the police. If you do so you could face criminal penalties, including jail.
  • Make sure to note the license plate number of the other vehicle, as well as the others driver's license number and their insurance information.
  • Ask to be checked by a medical professional, even if you feel fine. Injuries do not always present themselves immediately.

In all cases, make sure to speak with a qualified car accident lawyer who is capable of representing you in court. You can be sure that the insurance companies will have attorneys working hard on their side to minimize or eliminate any payments. Your attorney can help you get the  compensation you may be due.
