Why Would You Need To Get Hip And Knee Replacement?

Most people have an active lifestyle while they’re young. Jogging, tennis, football, baseball, skiing and weight lifting are very popular for the health, social and cosmetic benefits they provide. However, these are high-impact activities. Although they may give you a great physique, what is beneath the surface could be another story altogether.

Common causes of joint strain

Today’s weekend warriors are even more adventurous in their choice of sports. Stump-jumping mountain bikers, motocross riders, mountain climbers, snowboarders and free-runners (parkour) push their bodies to the limit. This is especially traumatic on the knees and hips. Active people also get injured. Once a joint is seriously hurt, it never fully recovers. Arthritis develops, which usually puts an end to the extreme workouts.

On the other hand, people who don’t exercise place severe stress on their joints. Being overweight is a sure path to painful knees and hips. The pressure from being 50 pounds overweight causes knees and hips to absorb too much strain in the course of everyday activities, such as walking, housework and mowing the lawn. With every step, people who are overweight suffer pain in the back, knees and hips.

Joint replacement surgeries

When folks hurt their joints, they might elect to have replacement surgery. Sometimes, the surgery is successful, and the patients can resume their everyday lifestyle. However, many people have a bad experience with replacement hips and knees, which can lead to numerous additional surgeries and ongoing problems.

Replacement knees and hips frequently don’t last as long as the manufacturer claims. The area around the artificial joints also tends to become infected, which is quite painful.

If you had a bad experience with a knee or hip replacement surgery, call Georgia’s Tate Law Group. We handle local and national lawsuits against artificial joint manufacturers like Johnson & Johnson (DePuy® ASR hip replacements) and Stryker Orthopaedics®. Tate Law Group also participates in multidistrict litigation and is on several steering committees regarding product liability lawsuits and medical malpractice.

The manufacturers of these devices should be held responsible for their bad products. Tate Law Group holds them accountable.
