The American Clean Power Association (“ACPA”) released what it titles its first “Clean Power Annual Report” (“Report”.
The Report is stated to indicate that wind, utility solar, and battery storage power capacity in the United States exceeded 1870 gigawatts (“GW”).
Other statistics cited in the Report include:
- 26 GW of clean energy projects came on line in 2020
- 16,836 MW land-based wind installations in 2020
- 8,894 MW utility-solar projects in 2020
- 760 MW of battery storage capacity in 2020
Combined wind, solar, and battery storage power is estimated to represent 78% of new power installations in 2020.
The referenced power technologies are estimated to deliver 10.7% of the United States’ electricity.
The Report also estimates the investments in 2020 in the referenced power technologies. 2020 investment is stated to total approximately $39 billion. Further, total project investment by these technologies is estimated to be $334 billion since 2005.
Projects currently underway are estimated to involve 90,000 MW of the referenced power technologies.
The Report also provides statistics for certain states and notes the environmental and health benefits of such power technologies.
