Wisconsin Governor Evers announced the opening of various “community testing events.” According to the announcement, “Wisconsin is increasing access to testing, and anyone with symptoms should contact their health care provider and ask to be tested.” The initial event opened today (May 1) in Alma, Wisconsin, and was provided for residents of Buffalo or Pepin County. Persons with COVID-19 symptoms are asked to “contact their health care provider and ask to be tested.”
As a reminder, COVID-19 symptoms include:
- Fever, defined as a measured temperature greater than 100.4°F
- Subjective fever, for example if a person feels unusually warm to the touch, or reports sensations similar to previous experiences of fever
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Sore throat
- Headache
- Chills or rigors (repetitive shaking chills)
- Muscle aches (myalgia)
- New loss of taste or smell
The Governor also stated that “[a]dditional community testing sites will be announced in the coming days.”
For employers bringing employees back to work, re-opening, or operating as an essential business, the testing events may hasten the opportunities for employees with symptoms to get tested and possibly back to work more quickly.
