The First-Inventor-to-File provisions of the America Invents Act (AIA) will take effect on March 16, 2013. In this video, John Covert, a director with Washington, DC-based intellectual property law firm Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox P.L.L.C., explains how First-to-File will impact patents filed before and after that date, as well as some of the difficulties a practitioner may encounter with regards to the effective filing date.
