This is a book review I recently published in the National Lawyers' Guild Review, on three recent biographies by death penalty defense attorneys: David Dow's Anatomy of an Execution; Andrea Lyons's Angel of Death Row; and John Temple's The Last Lawyer. The books provide impressive accounts of the challenges of legal aid and capital law reform while telling compelling stories of the one client, probably innocent, who completely changed the course of the author's life. The review was previously published in a law journal based in India, the National University of Juridical Sciences Law Review.
