Yesterday, the British Columbia Law Institute issued its report recommending the passage of a franchise specific statute for British Columbia. Much of what is being recommended follows the lead of the other 5 provinces with similar legislation. If anything, if the report’s recommendations are followed, the new statute would attempt to correct some of the anomalies and ambiguities in those other statutes.
