SUMMARY: Fines for violations of the Hart Scott Rodino Act are not a common occurrence. However, when they do come along, they tend to be eye-popping. The most recent example resulted in an settlement agreement pursuant to which John C. Malone, CEO and Chairman of Discovery Holding Company, is to pay a $1.4 million civil penalty.
