After a lengthy period of consultation the Canadian government has introduced Bill C-32 to amend the Copyright Act. One of the primary purposes is compliance with Canada’s international obligations under the World Intellectual Property Organization’s Copyright Treaty and Performance and Phonograms Treaty. The Bill is in the first reading stage and will progress through Parliament in the next few months. A summary of the proposed amendments is provided.
