U.S. Steps Up Combat vs. Immigration Scams


On June 9, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (the “USCIS”) announced a national initiative to root out immigration services scams that victimize innocent people who are seeking assistance in obtaining immigration counseling, visas or citizenship.

This initiative will be backed by the resources and the cooperative efforts of the Department of Homeland Security (“DHS”), the Department of Justice (“DOJ”) and the Federal Trade Commission (“FTC”) and will be aimed in particular at those who are engaged in the unauthorized practice of immigration law and counseling.
