Giving referrals to professionals who serve the same clients is a great way to get referrals. But finding opportunities to give good referrals is not a passive activity. You have to be on the lookout to find leads for other professionals in your network. Most of the time, clients will not ask you to refer them to an accountant, financial planner, real estate broker, etc. It all comes down to asking probing questions and really listening to the answers.
