This paper intends to verify whether the tax immunity of books, newspapers and periodicals (which are provided by Brazilian Constitution in order to promote culture and freedom of speech) can be applied to the so-called "electronic books" and similar devices, now part of our day-to-day life because of the popularization of various technologies and electronic-readers (such as the Kindle, the iPad and similar devices).
