Parties to commercial contracts often require that parties must raise disputes in New York state or federal courts even when the parties do not reside in New York. Often, non-signatories may wish to sue a signatory based on claims which relate to the contract. New York courts have permitted non-signatories to enforce these forum selection clauses under certain circumstances.
