Clearinghouse Fee Changes Effective July 1, 2010

Those of you who have an active Arizona child support or spousal maintenance case may have noticed a change in the Arizona Support Clearinghouse fee structure. On March 18, 2010, Governor Jan Brewer signed House Bill 2011, a bill that addresses the budget issues currently facing the State of Arizona. The support clearinghouse fee increase is part of that bill and the fee increase went into effect July 1, 2010. If you are currently ordered to pay child or spousal support through the clearinghouse, your monthly clearinghouse fee increased on this date from $2.25 to $5.00 per month. If you do not adjust to meet this new fee, you will begin accruing monthly fee arrearages.

If you are paying through a wage assignment order, and your employer is unaware of this change, you must let them know so an adjustment to your Arizona child support can be made.

This change only affects the non-primary custodial parent and will not impact the primary custodial parent.

Child support orders should really be reviewed at least every two years to make sure the order is fair to both parties and their current situations. Furthermore, if you have additional questions about modifying or enforcing current child or spousal support orders in Arizona I highly recommend that you get in contact with an Arizona family law attorney.
