With EMTALA enforcement on the rise, hospitals would be wise to take the temperature of their EMTALA compliance. Below are five tips to verify that your hospital is EMTALA compliant.
Tip 1: Revisit Your Policies
It is time to dust off your policies and make sure they are up to date and understandable to the front line clinical personnel who need to follow policy. Although most hospitals maintain CMS-required EMTALA policies, consider taking a second look at your policies from the vantage point of busy and overloaded emergency department staff and physicians.
