In an instance where a juvenile is caught with possession of marijuana, there is a slight chance that his or her case will be handled in juvenile court with the help of an attorney. Normally, when a juvenile is caught with possession of marijuana at age 17, the charges will be held and filed in adult court sometime after the juvenile’s birthday. On occasion the prosecutor’s office will consent to filing the case in juvenile court thereby allowing the person to be saved from an adult record.
