From a presentation given by Rob Scott to attendees of Dallas' second Ignite conference. The speech addressed the importance of cultivating and protecting your online reputation. In business your reputation is your brand, you grow it by doing great work building a happy culture and giving back to your community. Everybody understands the important of growing and managing an offline reputation – but few are paying attention to growing and managing their online reputation. Permitting your offline and online reputations to become discordant can confuse your audience—ensure you keep both versions in harmony. Even as Internet snarkiness is an artform for some, staying above the fray when dealing with your detractors is infinitely better than responding with histrionics and vitriol.
