The Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas (ECPA) is an initiative of the American Planning Association and recently published an interesting article about planning and the “green” economy. According to the author, planners are uniquely positioned to implement the vision for the “green” economy President Obama outlined in his State of the Union address. Cities across the globe – from Barcelona to Curitiba to Seattle – have demonstrated the economic power of sustainable urban development. By creating walkable neighborhoods networked by energy-efficient infrastructure, planners can create environments that encourage innovation and create jobs. The entire article is available on the ECPA website: http://bit.ly/gKfZxC.
