Attack on a Transgender Woman at McDonald’s Should be Investigated as a Hate Crime, Says New York Civil Rights Violation Lawyer

In what appears to be a hate crime, Chrissy Lee Polis, a 22-year-old transgender woman was attacked by two teenagers in a McDonald's restaurant.

Authorities have yet to determine if they consider the violent assault a hate crime. However, after examining the initial evidence, New York civil rights violation lawyer David Perecman believes that the attack may be called a hate crime.

As disturbing to New York civil rights violation lawyer Perecman is the fact that a McDonald's employee stood by and filmed the attack, never once attempting to help Polis. Other employees captured on the video are also doing nothing to stop the possible hate crime. Some are even laughing.

“Hate crimes against all community members in New York, including LGBT members, will be investigated and prosecuted as hate crimes,” said Perecman, a New York civil rights violation lawyer for over 30 years. “No person ever deserves to be a victim of gender harassment or violence regardless of their gender identity or personal presentation.”
