Recently, the Federal Court of Australia (FCA)

handed down it’s very first decision in Uganda

Telecom Ltd v Hi-Tech Telecom Pty Ltd (2011)

FCA 131 (Uganda Telecom) to uphold an

international arbitration award since the 2010

amendments to the International Arbitration

Act 1974 (Cth) (Arbitration Act).

The result in Uganda Telecom is the first

decision which applies the new amendments

to the International Arbitration Act 1974.
