As law firms move away from the billable hour, they will need to find ways to get work done better, faster, cheaper. Hiring and training more paralegals and support staff and investing in technology are two ways to achieve these savings. But like it or not, sending some work overseas may also be part of the solution. Some lawyers are already using legal process outsourcing as a way to differentiate themselves from other lawyers and law firms. They see the opportunities that LPO presents. But there are threats as well.
