OSHA's Hazard Communication Standard allows chemical manufacturer's and importers to withhold some confidential trade secret information from Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). When that information is necessary for safety or medical treatment, OSHA does require that it be released notwithstanding its trade secret status. This form of agreement provides for the protection of such confidential trade secrets when OSHA requires that they be disclosed.
