Revised ALTA Survey Standards Take Effect on Feb. 23


The New ALTA Survey Standards have been approved to take effect on Feb. 23, 2011. The 2011 Standards represent a major revision to the current Standards, and attorneys need to be familiar with the new requirements and Table A optional items. Title insurance companies generally require an ALTA Survey in order to remove the standard survey exception from the final policy.

This article summarizes some of the important changes from the perspective of an attorney who represents title insurance companies, lenders and buyers.
