En 1900 Edouard Lambert y Raymond Saleilles tuvieron la iniciativa de organizar un congreso internacional de Derecho Comparado, el cual tuvo lugar, fruto del ansia intelectual por el progreso que iba de la mano con superar los límites geográficos y los muros domésticos para expandir el conocimiento científico. En ese contexto, Lambert y Saleilles proponían un droit commun de l´humanitè que vendría a ser la base de un Derecho mundial que sería construido mediante el Derecho Comparado.

Ya desde entonces se reconocía la importancia central del Derecho comparado como una disciplina imprescindible en la enseñanza legal, inclusive desde el pre-grado.( )
