Our most recent Alert highlights the importance of drafting a proper termination letter and summarizes the law respecting statutory limitation periods for wrongful dismissal claims. One issue that employers are sometimes confronted with is exactly what to say in a termination letter. Employers can run into unnecessary problems as a result of saying too little or too much. Striking an effective balance can go a long way toward being well positioned to defend or eliminate subsequent claims by former employees.
