Hopes Raised for Bipartisan Immigration Reform


Sen. Charles Schumer of New York and Sen. Lindsey Graham of North Carolina set forth a bipartisan proposal for sweeping immigration reforms in a Washington Post article published in March, and now public pressure is mounting for Congressional action on immigration matters.

The most notable features of the latest senate proposal are a path to legalization for millions of undocumented immigrants and the introduction of a biometric Social Security card for all domestic residents, including U.S. citizens.
