NSW steps closer to WHS harmonisation

Yesterday the newly elected NSW Government introduced legislation into parliament to harmonise work health and safety laws.

The introduction came in the form of two bills, the Work Health and Safety Bill 2010 (WHS Bill) and the Occupational Health and Safety Amendment Bill (OHSA Bill). The WHS Bill will introduce the model laws proposed by Safe Work Australia and the OHSA Bill is intended to implement some important work health and safety reforms pending the enactment of new legislation.
