Last week, an escalator at Penn Station suddenly accelerated, hurling riders forward until the emergency-cutoff button was pressed. Three people required hospitalization after the New York escalator accident. Personal injury lawyer David Perecman believes this escalator accident may have been avoidable.

As reported by the New York Post, this isn't the first time that this Penn Station escalator had problems.

New York personal injury lawyer Perecman understands that it is the property owner's responsibility to ensure that escalators are safe for public use. If a New York property owner knows there is a problem and fails to maintain, repair, or inspect the escalator on the premises, that owner will likely be considered negligent. If this proves to be the case, the victims of the escalator accident in New York will likely receive compensation.
