The partners at Amal Law Group, LLC often tell the curious that they originally knew each other through six degrees of separation, and that by sheer coincidence, all six happened to cross paths at the same time to form the group.
In their second meeting before forming the group, with kids in tow, it suddenly occurred to them their common thread: Islam. A law firm founded by six Muslim women, they realized, was likely a first in the nation, and indeed, their investigation confirmed their suspicions.
Carrying this banner and their passion for the law, the partners understood that they were paving a new path for future Muslim women, providing society an example of today’s Muslim woman, and giving hope to a community that often finds itself demoralized by the current post-9/11 era.
As their photo indicates, the partners are a mix of everything. With ethnic backgrounds including African American, Arab, South Asian and European American; with kids in their teens to newborns; with husbands, this dynamic group, all born and raised in the U.S., is a proud product of the American Muslim realization, and they look forward to serving any client walking through their doors.
The partners are: Nikia Bilal, Janaan Hashim, Rima Kapitan, Maryam Khan, Majdel Musa and Heena Musabji.
