Ellyn Law LLP is a Toronto business litigation firm. We act on cases involving commercial litigation and arbitration, shareholder litigation and enforcement judgments. Our firm also acts in international commercial arbitration and estate litigation.
Established in 1973, when Senior Partner Igor Ellyn began his litigation practice, our expertise is in business litigation and arbitration, trials, appeals, mediation and strategic advice, opinions and advocacy.
We represent individuals and corporations in corporate and shareholder disputes, securities litigation, including class actions and in enforcement of foreign judgments in the Province of Ontario, Canada.
We have represented clients successfully in investment, judgment enforcement, insurance, defamation, breach of contract, fiduciary duty, trade secrets, real estate and commercial leasing matters.
We also have cases in e-commerce and private copying, professional malpractice and employment law.
Our partner Orie Niedzviecki, who is also admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, is the head of our estate litigation group, and also acts on many commercial litigation matters in the above-mentioned fields.

Igor Ellyn, QC, founder and senior partner of the firm, is a trial, appellate and ADR counsel and a past president of the Canadian Bar Association-Ontario. Mr. Ellyn is a chartered arbitrator and mediator and a member of the arbitration panels of ADR Chambers International, the ADR Institute of Ontario and the Better Business Bureau of Central and Mid-Western Ontario. He is well-known in the community and serves as Honorary Legal Counsel of Canadian Jewish Congress-Ontario Branch.
Mr. Ellyn accepts arbitration and mediation engagements in international and domestic disputes. Hearings can be conducted in English or French. Mr. Ellyn also speaks Romanian and Hebrew and has some comprehension of German.
The firm also provides counsel services to U.S. and other foreign lawyers and attorneys in conflicts of interest, jurisdiction and judgment enforcement matters and in the enforcement of international arbitral awards under the New York Convention.

Orie H. Niedzviecki, Partner, who is also admitted in the District of Columbia, and is experienced in a wide variety of business disputes, including construction, professional malpractice, and commercial matters. He is recommended as litigation counsel by several lawyers and also assists senior counsel.
Evelyn Perez-Youssoufian, Associate who was called to the Ontario Bar in 2005. after completing her articles in Ottawa. She holds law degrees from the Faculty of Law of the University of Windsor (LL.B.) and also a J.D. from University of Detroit Mercy. Following association in criminal law and civil litigation at other firms, Evelyn has recently joined Ellyn Law LLP as an associate where she provides services to clients in support of partners of the firm. She is an integral part of our firm's litigation team. Evelyn has appeared on numerous occasions before the Provincial Offences Court, the Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Appeal. Evelyn also speaks Spanish and Armenian fluently.
