Constructions: Our Construction Practice Group advises owners and developers, design professionals, general contractors, subcontractors, and material suppliers with respect to all aspects of construction law, including contract review, negotiation, mediation, arbitration and trial. Our practice covers private and public works, commercial, industrial and residential projects. All of our Construction attorneys are comfortable in the job trailer, the board room, and before judges and juries.

Corporate, Tax and Business Transactions: The firm’s Corporate, Tax, & Business Transactions department covers a lot of ground, from basic corporate services to complex regulatory, security, and tax issues and entity structuring.

Family Wealth & Tax Planning: Our services range from simple estate planning to sophisticated estate and tax planning matters. This work often involves gift planning, charitable gift planning and private foundations, as well as asset protection and specialized planning for owners of closely-held businesses, executives of publicly held corporations, international clients and other clients with highly specialized planning needs.

Financial Institutions and Creditors' Rights: Hopkins & Carley provides a comprehensive range of legal services throughout California to banks, finance companies, institutional investors, investment banks, private banking and trust operations, credit unions, brokerage firms, landlords, leasing companies, and other secured and unsecured lenders. In addition, we provide services to businesses of all kinds, including manufacturers or other vendors who deal with debtor parties in ordinary course business or financially troubled transactions.

Intellectual Property: Our IP teams help identify, protect and exploit patents, trademarks, trade secrets and copyrights——from the simple and basic to the most sophisticated, difficult and complex. You’ll also appreciate how our focused experience obtains value from frequently overlooked intellectual property, including know-how, business processes, contract networks, and trade dress.

Litigation: We represent clients in all aspects of complex litigation involving commercial, trust and estate, real property, intellectual property, and employment disputes, among others. Our litigation expertise extends to Trials and appeals in all state and federal courts Federal, state and self-regulatory administrative proceedings, and Alternative dispute resolution processes, such as arbitration and mediation

Real Estate: Our clients, including property owners, developers, tenants, and lenders, seek our counsel for real property transactions and related matters across a variety of industries and needs, ranging from the ordinary to the most sophisticated, difficult and complex transactions.

Trust and Estate Litigation: We handle all aspects of trust and estate litigation, from litigation prevention through trial and appeal. We also represent private and institutional fiduciaries and others in will contests, trust contests, will and trust construction, reformation, and other fiduciary litigation.

Labor & Employment: We counsel employers in a wide variety of matters, including wrongful discharge, discrimination, harassment, unfair competition and trade secret disputes. We have represented clients in both state and federal courts and have served as lead counsel at both the trial and appellate levels. We also counsel employers on employment issues including development and implementation of employment policies and procedures, wage and hour matters, and avoidance of litigation.
