Practice/Organization Description

Janet combines fifteen years of law firm and in-house legal experience, communications expertise, and professional coaching training and certification to create insightful, motivating, and highly customized executive coaching and training. As an experienced international lawyer, she truly understands the unique challenges faced by lawyers handling cross-border issues.

In December 1987, Janet joined the international practice group of Baker Botts, LLP and worked on international business transactions bsed throughout the globe. While there, Baker Botts selected her to represent the firm as its foreign visiting attorney with Santamarina y Steta, S.C.’s Mexico City office. In 1996, Enron International hired her to spearhead legal teams on numerous sophisticated transactions, including a $400 million international bid, a $200 million real estate financing, and many other transactional, regulatory and litigation matters.

Janet is also an experienced radio commentator, journalist and author who has written frequently for the Asian Wall Street Journal, Dallas Morning News, Houston Chronicle, Fodor’s and other publications. Her chapter titled Creative Career Strategies for Growing an International Practice will appear in the upcoming Third Edition of the bestselling Careers in International Law published by the ABA’s Section of International Law. Janet uses her communications expertise to help clients improve their communication skills, cultivate personal branding, and generate media exposure.

Having taught as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Houston School of Law, Janet now trains and speaks on a variety of topics. She co-founded and co-presents the signature Seven Steps to Global Rainmaking course. TM

The International Coach Federation has certified Janet as a coach, and she holds its ACC credential. She received professional coaching training from the Coaches Training Institute.

The National Endowment for the Arts selected her as a 2005 panelist. Janet has traveled and worked throughout the world, is highly proficient in Spanish and has a working knowledge of French and Italian. She is married and has two children.
