Practice/Organization Description
Sean P. Dwyer is an accomplished litigator whose practice is focused on the defense of serious liability claims. He has appeared as trial and appellate counsel in all state and federal jurisdictions in the New York area on behalf of a variety of liability and excess insurance carriers. In addition, Sean has served as defense counsel-of-choice for several hospitals in the Long Island region. Over his twenty-year career, Sean has tried hundreds of civil and criminal matters with many proceeding to verdict.
Since 1993, Sean has served as trial counsel for several law firms and insurers, specializing in the defense and trial of complex civil litigation matters in the field of professional liability, products liability, commercial and personal automobile liability, premises liability cases, wrongful death, traumatic brain injuries, construction law and medical malpractice, including the trial of brain and birth injury claims. Sean has been designated a Certified Medical Malpractice Trial Counsel and has specialized in the defense of hospitals and nursing homes.
Sean has represented the interests of many healthcare professionals before disciplinary and peer review boards. He has also successfully tried complex commercial litigation cases both before juries and at arbitration.
Sean frequently lectures on trial and litigation issues for the bar and has participated in training sessions for risk managers, insurers and health care professionals throughout the New York area. He is a co-author of several chapters of Moore’s Federal Digest 3d Ed. published by Matthew Bender and has authored numerous publications on litigation issues. His legal lectures have been recorded for national distribution for attorneys pursuing continuing legal education certification.

Sean is admitted to practice in New York, and before the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the District of New Jersey.
Education
Sean earned his Juris Doctor from New York Law School in 1987. He received his B.A. from Manhattan College.
